WORLD Junior Championships bronze medallist Adiq Husainie Othman could join Azizul Hasni Awang and Josiah Ng on board the flight to Copenhagen for the UCI Track World Championships on March 24-28.
This is subject to an evaluation after the rider completes his debut for Australia's Drapac-Porsche team in Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) on March 1-7.
Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) track development committee chairman and deputy president Datuk Naim Mohamad said Adiq Husainie will be considered depending on an evaluation by head coach John Beasley.
The committee had initially opted to rest most of the squad, banking only on medal potentials Azizul and Josiah for the World Championships, although six men and one woman, Fatehah Mustapa had qualified for the meet.
Movado Watch This was because emphasis had been put on the qualification process for the 2012 Olympics in London, which begins right after the World Championships with the Asian Championships Fake Paris Hilton Watches in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates in April.
"Even though we qualified six men and a woman for the World Championships this year, we initially only decided to contest the keirin and sprint events where there is a podium potential," said Naim.
"The decision not to send all riders who qualified to the World Championships this year is taken on the consideration of our bigger mission in qualifying for the Olympics in London in 2012. This begins with the Asian Championships."
Naim also added that last year's World Championships 1km time trial bronze medallist Rizal Tisin will be making his long awaited return from injury in the Asian Championships.
Rizal's position with regards to his events, however, remains uncertain following the non-Olympic 1km time trial event being discarded from the Asian Games in October and also the Asian Championships.
As for Adiq Husainie, Naim said the committee sees a possible shot at a medal but this will only be decided after the rider completes his duties with Drapac-Porsche in LTdL.
"Malaysia was also accorded a second reserve place for the scratch event which was gained by Adiq Husainie. Malaysia is ranked 28th in the world in this event," said Naim.
Christian Louboutin boots "But whether or not we will add him to the squad will be decided by Beasley. It depends on whether he is able to recover in time and prepare for the World Championships."
Adiq Husainie is currently with the national road team at a pre- LTdL training camp in Ipoh.
